Disrupting Identity— FUENFWERKEN DESIGN AGENCY, JUNIOR DESIGNER
There is a fondness around projects where I can combine my love of art with the opportunity to design. In 2019, I created an identity for an art exhibition at 5Space Berlin titled Disrupting Identity. Here, a diverse group of international artists shared their perspective on the idea of identity, the meaningfulness of one's own development and the resurrection of something new from those experiences.
Our solution was to create a logo that was able to change, move, and morph. We also created invitations, posters, newsletters, name tags, the price list, artist statement pamphlets, and a guide system to the entry way of the exhibition. |
Guide systemWe tried a different ways to provide a guide system for this short lived exhibition. We tried various combinations of navigational ques, landing on minimally designed signage and printed materials to guide visitors to the gallery space. We tested the typography for readability at a distance often, as well as finding consistent placement of signs throughout the space. Our job was to bring visitors from the street to the back of the building with a limited budget.
We carefully placed poster A0 at building entrances and added A3 signage inside the stairwells, pointing the way through the floors up to the top floor. Eventually, the system ends up on the floor and once at the gallery space, the visitors where welcomed with a large program poster at eye level. We did not expect rain that weekend, so naturally the posters outside did not withstand the weather. |
